On this site I write about the intersection of life and comedic improv. I share my experiences and thoughts about using the principles I’ve learned while studying improv, to help me build my social skills and experience a fuller life.
Improvert is all about “turning to” improv while going through life.
Growing up I never knew how to “be”. By this I meant: Who am I. How should I behave? What do I do? I thought that I would be able to “make it” in life if I just figured that out.
Fast forward several years later. I was going through a rough time in my life, and realized I needed to do some work on myself. Determined to change myself for the better, I started studying the self-help. Around the same time I found long-form comedic improv.
One day while reviewing my notes from an improv class, I realized that the principles of improv aligned with the ideas I gathered from self-help. It was then when I realized how I wanted to “be” for the rest of my life.
“I believe that if we all just followed the basic principles of long form improv, the world would be a better place.”
I’m always interested in learning about how improv might have affected you, so feel free to reach out to me and share something about you.
